Public Record presents Glimmer, the second solo exhibition by Grace Mirams. Informed by her time spent in rural Japan, this body of work attends to ritual and perception.

Glimmer presents structures and large-scale prints that expand upon the functional qualities of everyday objects, rooted in a desire to renegotiate the ties between life and art; between function and form.
The work engages the specific nature of printing, where darkness is irregular and uneven. Ink is mixed with solvents and layered over one another. Influenced by Jun'ichirō Tanizaki's consideration of shadow as a generative condition, rather than a lack of light, the work reflects on light as a constant presence; Illuminating the spaces we occupy and shaping how they are observed, in glimmer and shadow.
